New Heights of Social Media Marketing

Now this is a fresh and impressive take on social media marketing. Congratulations  to the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau for original thinking.

Recently the Orlando CVB launched a worldwide search for an adventurous twosome who wanted to take on Orlando, tourist style. The number one requirement for the job? A great smile.

After receiving hundreds of submissions from more than a dozen countries, the winning duo of Kyle Post and Stacey Doornbos was selected. Former residents of Holland, Michigan, both now reside in New York City.

This past week, Stacey and Kyle with their award-winning smiles, packed their sunscreen and their walking shoes and headed south. Objective: “67 Days of Smiles in Orlando.”

What will they do in order to keep smiling? They will visit every Orlando theme park and every attraction they can jam pack into their days. They will eat at as many unique restaurants and in general cover as much tourist territory as they can manage. No doubt, they will smile every step of the way, and oh yes, and they will also be social media marketing emissaries, sharing their adventures with the world.

The 67 Days of Smile Ambassadors, Stacey and Kyle will be blogging, tweeting on Twitter, uploading videos to YouTube, adding photos to Flickr, and sharing on Facebook. In other words, their job is social media saturation.

What an excellent use of social media and what a challenge to the rest of us to identify equally unique and engaging ways to use social media marketing tools in our own businesses, consulting practices, and branding efforts.
