Social Media Master, Ron Capps, Shares Critical Information on Social Networking

by The Obvious Expert on May 13, 2009

We are so pleased here at the Obvious Expert to be sharing another excellent teleseminar /podcast with you…

Elsom Eldridge Jr. talks with Dr. Ron Capps about using social media to grow your business or brand as a message to your community and perhaps to the world.

Elsom starts with the very real question, “How can we as busy coaches, consultants, entrepreneurs, and businesspeople possibly get involved in Social Media, considering the time it will take?”

To answer this question, Elsom takes us to NicheProf Ron Capps, who addresses the “Economy of Action” a plan to efficiently use your time and still get your message to the marketplace.

(To hear the full audio, visit this link.)

In the podcast, Ron explains that to effectively use social media, you have to have a plan. To the excuse of lack of time, or the idea that social media sites (like FaceBook, MySpace,  and others) are just hang-outs for kids, Ron says, “WRONG!”

And from this, Ron Capps tells you how to spend as little as 15 minutes a day to use social media and social networking to spread your message. Social media is also an important tool for learning what your market (and your competition) are saying about you.

Here are some of the social media tips, and how to use them, that Ron Capps explains:

Google Alerts and Google Reader

Firefox as a browser

Shareaholic

Stumbleupon

Budurl.com — how and why to shorten URLs

Ping.fm — distributes to more than 40 social media services at once

Pixelpipe —the importance of distribution channels.

Social aggregators like Friendfeed, Iminta, Secondbrain, Lifestream, my Bloglog, and more resources that “scrape” just like a search engine.

Microblogs, including Identica, Twitter, Jaiku, Quippy, Tumblr, and others

Tweetlater  and Postlater as autoresponders for your social network, your web 2.0

What to post

How to build and maintain your audience

Why you should repeat your message in your microblog
