Guy Kawasaki Says Don’t Do It Without Love
Bestselling author and business visionary Guy Kawasaki says, “Don’t start a business or take a curriculum up because you think that’s what’s hot. You should really, truly—and I know this sounds like a cliché—study and do what you love.”
To this advice he adds the qualification that he cannot guarantee that doing what you love will make you rich, but he can guarantee that if you start a business just because you think it will make you rich, then you will probably end up miserable.
Pastor Max Lucado Says “Stand at the intersection of your affections and successes and find your uniqueness.”
Author and minister Max Lucado puts a more spiritual twist on aspects of this idea in his book, Cure for the Common Life—Living in Your Sweet Spot. Lucado advises you to find your “sweet spot,” referencing the sports terminology for making that perfect internal connection. As he explains, when you are living in the zone, “Your boyfriend remembers birthdays, the tax refund comes early, and the flight attendant bumps you up to first class. Life in the sweet spot rolls like the downhill side of a downwind bike ride.”

What they gained was not a life free of hardship, but one of few regrets and soaring triumphs. A fuller sense of themselves, the world, and their place in it.”
