Entrepreneurs defy laws of physics
Have you ever heard that bumblebees, because of their shape and weight, shouldn’t aerodynamically be able to fly? Fact or urban myth, the bumblebee story still makes it point—actually it makes three very strong points, each one extremely significant to you as a consultant, businessperson, entrepreneur, or visionary wannabe.
True, bumblebees don’t look as if they should be able to fly. Yet whether it is physics fact or fiction, clearly they can.
- Lesson: Never look at the appearance of a consumer, business prospect, or client and assume he or she won’t be willing and able to pay your price.
- Lesson: Don’t pigeonhole yourself as being too old, too young, too unskilled, too broke, or too anything else to be able to fly. Just because you are currently fat, fuzzy, and wearing horizontal stripes, doesn’t mean that you can’t soon be soaring and that you won’t sting the daylights out of anyone who tries to stop you.
- Lesson: Just because you have heard the story before doesn’t make it true. When it comes to the “rules” of business building, business marketing, entrepreneurship, consulting, or freelancing, be skeptical of at least 50 percent of what you hear and simply don’t believe the other half. The truths about business are shot down daily by creative businesspeople, visionaries, and those who dare to do what others say cannot be done.
And for some serious bumblebee transformation and a reminder that anything is possible…
